The Christian Mercy - "Through Faith, Love can turn the world"

About us

Christian Mercy Background

Christian Mercy (CM) Church began as a faith-based nonprofit organization in Rwanda under the name Christian Mercy Ministries (CMM) in 1999. Established in Gatsibo district of Rwanda’s Eastern Province by Mrs. Jackiline Hansen, a Rwandan in the diaspora, CMM was initially supported by Christians and other individuals dedicated to advancing education and community development.

Founded in response to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, CMM aimed to support children affected by the genocide and women living with HIV/AIDS. The organization primarily operated in Ntende village, where access to education was limited, and many children were at risk of dropping out. From the outset, CMM’s mission has been to empower vulnerable groups, particularly girls and mothers, by offering education, community support, and spreading the gospel through acts of love.

Letter on, CMM transitioned to Christian Mercy Church due to regulatory requirements, officially shifting from “Ministries” to a Church while retaining its vision, mission, and activities.  CM remains dedicated to serving God and His people holistically by promoting evangelism, education, empowerment, and community development.
